Breast Cancer Awareness Friday Night First!The Outlook Mainline Ice Hawks hosted the Southwest CMX Impact on Friday night.
The game was dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness and the Outlook Mainline Ice Hawks raised $760!!
This game was CLOSE as both teams were looking to extend their winning streak. The Ice Hawks came out on top, but the Impact did not take the L without a fantastic game for hockey fans to watch in the stands!
Outlook owned the 1st period as Hayley Braun opened up the scoring just over 2 minutes into the 1st period, followed by a goal with 13:54 left in the first by Jayda Braun (H. Braun).
The Ice Hawks extended their lead to 3-0 with Hayley Braun's 2nd unassisted goal of the night just 1:40 into the 2nd, but the Southwest CMX Impact was not going to let up, with Bouffard (Auger) and an unassisted goal by Haubrich late in the 2nd to make it a 3-2 game at the end of the 2nd.
Impact opened up scoring just 25 seconds into the 3rd to make it a TIE GAME! Outlook's Higgs (J Braun, Coates) and another unassisted and short-handed goal by Hayley Braun midway through the 3rd period, gave the Ice Hawks a 2 goal lead. With Hayley Braun's 3rd period goal, she officially earned the SJFHL's first hat trick of the season, with the score now 5-3 for the Ice Hawks. With 2:50 left in the third, Impact's McCann (Tendler) made this a 1 goal game! The Ice Hawks rookie goalie Addie Marien held off the Impact in the remaining minutes of the period, with a final score of 5-4 for the Ice Hawks.
Rookie Mya Ruschkowski, had a terrific game despite the loss, with 37 saves out of 42 shots, many being unbelievable.
The Ice Hawks played 2 skaters down on more than one occasion and gave up only one power play goal and scored one shorthanded.
Double Header Weekend : Saskatoon Breast Cancer Awareness Home Opener hosts the Southwest CMX Impact Saskatoon Prairie hosted their Home Opener for SJFHL Season 2 and the inaugural Bourgault Cup Champions made a statement, with a final score of 15-0 over the Southwest CMX Impact. Impact's Anna Hartnell took an impressive total of 68 shots over three periods, but ultimately the Prairie Blaze forwards could not be stopped. 1st period goals by Prairie Blaze's Hood (Crawford), Crawford and Pylypow (Lariviere,Stegemann) gave Saskatoon a 3-0 lead heading into the 2nd.
The 2nd period, Crawford (Lariviere), Crawford (Pylypow, Stegemann), Stegemann (Stoebich,Morelli), Field(Tremblay) gave the Prairie Blaze a 8-0 lead after 40.
Crawford put up a hat trick for the SJFHL's 2nd hat trick of the season! The 3rd period saw Saskatoon Prairie Blaze's Ashley Bernath (3), Ballard (2), Pylypow and Crawford. Final Score for Prairie Blaze 15, Southwest CMX Impact 0.
The Saskatoon Prairie Blaze also highlighted breast cancer awareness, raising $820.50 at their home opener! 🎀
On Sunday afternoon, the Southwest CMX Impact continued their 3-game weekend road trip with their third and final game of the weekend at the Harold Latrace against the Prairie Blaze!
Another impressive showing by Impact's goalie Hartnell, with 43 saves in the game. Final score of 8-0 for the Saskatoon Prairie Blaze, with goals by Field, Tremblay, Lariviere,Ballard,Bernath,Haynes, Crawford and Wehrens.
On to Week 4 where the SJFHL will see 4 games throughout the October 25th weekend!
