The Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League (SJFHL) just finished Week 5 of our schedule with two games this past weekend!
Saturday evening, the Western Prairie Junior Klippers made the road trip to Bethune to take on the Taylor Toyota Lynx on home ice. The first half of the 1st period both teams worked to get it past the posts, but Klippers Sawyer Norman, during a 3 on 5, scored on Lynx veteran goalie, Payton Schlamp. The second period was relatively quiet with Klippers goalie, Rilyn Roadhouse and Lynx Schlamp blocking all the shots that came their way.
Lynx responded 5:37 into the 1st period, with a fantastic goal by Hextall (Copeland), followed shortly after by Captain Tori McNabb scoring an unassisted goal, just 3 minutes later, giving the Taylor Toyota Lynx a 2-1 lead with just 12:24 minutes left in the 3rd. The last goal of the game was scored by Lynx (Hak, Schlosser) to get to a 3-1 Final Score with the Lynx taking the W.
Sunday afternoon, the Junior Klippers continued their road trip just short flight down Hwy 11 to take on the undefeated Regina Junior Rebels.
The Rebels opened up the scoring, with Manz ,Clark (7), Clark(11) just over 8 minutes into the 1st period, which was ultimately the only goal in a quiet 1st period of the game.
The Rebels turned up the heat both in goals and penalties in the second, with Rebels rookies Revenko, Manz scoring just 48 seconds into the period, followed by a goal from V Mann (Lang, Westerman) and then followed up just over a minute later by Lang (Manz, V Mann).
Lang and Mann connected again for the Rebels and then the last goal of the second period going to Rebels Westerman (Clark 7). The Rebels making a statement on why they are undefeated so far this season, with three more goals in the 3rd period from Manz (Hranmalak), Hranmalak (unassisted), and finally Revenko (Hramalak). The Regina Junior Rebels hold on to their undefeated streak, sending the Klippers home with a final game score of 9-1 for the Rebels.
