WHAT.A DAY.WHAT.A.GAME. & Lynx Female Hockey Day in Lumsden.
The Outlook Mainline Ice Hawks hit the highway and headed to Lumsden on Saturday to take on the Taylor Toyota Lynx after a huge OT win over the Saskatoon Prairie Blaze Friday night.
Both teams were fired up and you could feel the energy in the rink! Both teams coming on big wins, they were both ready to claim another W.
Not only was it a big game for these two SJFHL Games, it was also the Lynx Female Hockey Day as the Lumsden rink hosted over 1,000 people throughout the day filled with female hockey games. Huge thanks to Last Mountain Distillery Caesar Bar, and their support of the SJFHL teams this season!
The first period had both teams exchanging time fairly evenly in the both zones, with Lynx Goalie, Payton Schlamp taking on a strong Ice Hawks team, deflecting nearly 20 shots in the first 20 minutes of the game. The second period really heated up between the two teams with exciting hockey played on both sides. Lynx Rookie, #20,Brooke Bassingthwaite, assisted by Lynx Captain, #8 Tori McNabb finally got one past the Ice Hawks Goalie, Marien 11:49 in the 2nd. The Ice Hawks scoring star, #21 Haley Braun answered with 4:09 left in the 2nd with a nice goal that got by Schlamp.
The teams came out ready to the final 20 to take the win and the fans were all in for the 3rd, following the puck from one end of the ice to the other as both teams exchanged drives to the net. The Outlooks continued their aggressive attack on the net, and Schlamp stopped them all. At 6:37 into the 3rd period, Bassingthwaite scored the game-winning goal, unassisted for an excited Lumsden crowd.
