Christmas Break Feature - Outlook Ice Hawk Sydney Martin

We start a feature series this break called "SJFHLers to Watch"

Today, we feature Outlook Ice Hawk veteran goalie, Sydney Martin.

Syd is in her 3rd and final season with the Ice Hawks.  Posting an impressive 4 wins, with 3 shutouts, a .978 save percentage and a .5 GAA, she is getting everyone's attention!

This comes after a stellar season in 24-25 where she was first amongst the league's goalies in a number of categories and was also voted as the 2nd team all-star goalie.

Martin shares netminder duties with Addie Marien, the duo is blocking an inordinate amount of opponents shots so far this season posting only 1 loss in 8 games with 4 shutouts between them.

We asked the "SJFHLers to Watch" the same questions.  Here is what Martin has to say:

"My hometown is Watson, Saskatchewan. 

 

I grew up watching my brothers all play hockey so that’s what inspired me to play. 

 

My favourite thing about playing in the SJFHL is being able to play competitively while still being close to home, and of course all the amazing friends I’ve made throughout it. 

 

I think my greatest contribution to the team is my consistency in the net. 

 

Outside of hockey I’m a university student, graduating with a B Kinesiology at the U of S this year and will be heading into the nursing program next year. 

 

I currently don’t have any plans for hockey when I age out of the SJFHL, but we will see what opportunities arise!"
