In this "SJFHLers to watch" we feature veteran forward Nyah Lang from the Regina Wild.
In 25-26 Nyah is playing her third season in the SJFHL and she is putting up some pretty impressive numbers. #16 leads the league with 19 points in 9 games, this year her new linemate Laiken Swan is only one point behind making this duo tough for opponents to defend.Part way through her 3rd season, Assistant Captain Lang leads the league in pretty much every all time statistic. She has the most games played in the SJFHL at 47, leading goal scorer at 59, leader in assists with 55 (114 total points, yep the leader), she is a not so distant third in penalty minutes. Lang plays hard and fast, something that frustrates the opponents, she draws as many, if not more, penalties from opponents in a game. She brings the whole package to the game we love.
Lang has been recognized for her stellar play having been chosen as a first team allstar forward for both the 23-24 and the 24-25 seasons. She was also the top goal scorer in the league in its inaugural season.
We ask every feature player the same question, here is what Nyah had to say:"My home town is Regina, Saskatchewan.
My dad (coach Steve) was the one that inspired me to play hockey growing up, he played hockey his whole life and wanted both my sisters and I to play as well.
My favourite thing about playing in the SJFHL is the way I am still able to continue playing hockey and making memories with my friends.
Outside of hockey, I play softball during the summer and I work at En Vogue Day Spa as a receptionist when I can, I am also currently going to school full time at the University of Regina, studying secondary education."To say I enjoy watching Lang is a stretch because I am usually cheering for the other team, but I have to call it as I see it, she is making records that will likely stand as the benchmark for a few seasons, Nyah Lang IS currently one of the SJFHLers to watch!
