In this "SJFHLers to watch" we feature veteran forward Mia Tough from the Western Prairie Klippers.
In 25-26 Mia is playing her final season in the SJFHL and her dedication to the team and league is unmatched. She is a part of a group of Turtleford players that fans across the league have been blessed to watch in the infancy of the league. Mia is one of the early adopters, helping the league develop and thrive, bringing talents and showcasing female hockey as a truly relevant and entertaining endeavour.
Captain Tough leads the Klippers in points half way through her 3rd season. She has played the most games of any Klipper in the SJFHL and is in 2nd place in all time games played. Mia was also voted as a 2nd team allstar in the 24-25 season.Mia sets up plays and grinds! She has many touches and is fiercely loyal to her team, she plays with intensity and grit, not afraid to make sure others know she is coming for the puck and they best be prepared for a solid hit if they plan to hold on.
We ask every feature player the same question, here is what Tough had to say:
"My home town is Turtleford, Saskatchewan
A few things inspired me to start playing hockey, but the two biggest influences were the amount of girls in my class playing and the fact that it runs in my family
The things I enjoy most about playing in the SJFHL are the competitiveness and the chance to meet new people from across the province.
I’d say my greatest individual contribution has been my commitment. Even though I live two and a half hours from Kindersley, I make every effort to be there and avoid missing anything.
I currently work at Turtleford and District Co-op as an Accounts Payable Clerk
My biggest goal, especially with this being my final year in the SJFHL, is to keep playing competitive hockey, whether that’s at the university or college level, or in the new Senior Women’s League."
Looking forward to Mia's 2nd half of her final season, she IS an SJFHLer to watch!
