In this "SJFHLers to watch" we feature rookie forward Ella Stow from the Outlook Ice Hawks.25'-26 is Stow's first season in the SJFHL, she is one of a number of rookie's across the league that spent her first year of eligibility playing college hockey. Stow is the Ice Hawks 2nd player that developed at Dakota College at Bottineau, the first being 23-24 forward Mary McKay.
Stow's rookie season started slow but she is gaining momentum, she is in the top 5 in the points race with 5 goals and 7 assists in just 8 games. At 1.5 points per game, she is on course for a 30 point season. Stow is 2nd amongst rookie's in the points race, just 1 point less in 1 less game than the Wild's Aryanna Lang.
#21 has speed and can read the play getting to the right place to get the puck , a real pain to defences and goalies. Stow has an accurate shot and is a natural goal scorer.
We ask every feature player the same question, here is what Ella had to say:"I grew up in Martensville but now I live in Saskatoon!.
I grew up in a hockey family, so it was just kind of second nature to be playing hockey. I was able to start playing hockey when I was 4 years old. My dad was the main person that taught me how to skate and helped me learn the game!
My favourite thing about playing in the SJFHL is having the ability to play competitive hockey beyond my minor hockey days. Being able to play in Outlook has introduced a whole new group of friends and an amazing team of coaches. There’s so many girls from different home towns that I never would have met without this league!
I think the success I bring to the team is that I show up to everything with a positive attitude and and the drive to get better! . I like to make sure everyone is having a good time on and off the ice. I also love to put the puck in the back of the net!
After leaving Dakota College at Bottineau, I decided to take a year off of school and work. Right now, I am currently a bartender at Moxies in Saskatoon. I am also a skills coach at the Granatier working with kids. My plan for the future is to be in the field of dentistry, hopefully as a hygienist!
My hockey goal would be for the Ice Hawks to win the league this year!"
Fans, #21 Ella Stow is focussed and driven, she is one of the rookie SJFHLers to watch this season!
